After launching his career with Alexander Howden’s captive risk management & re-insurance Far Eastern Division in Australia, upon his return to the UK he went on to become a Managing Director at UDT Finance, before successfully developing the UK’s first insurance-based specialist F&I warranty company. The company was sold in the mid nineties.
Malcolm went on to establish an independent consultancy firm, Malcolm Douglass & Associates, which focused on providing specialised risk insurance, direct database marketing, F&I product development and risk management. UK & European clients included: Rolls Royce & Bentley Motors; Rover Group; Harley-Davidson; Apollo Vehicle Contracts; Green Flag (National Breakdown); UKI Insurance; Genesis Special Risk; Fiat Alfa Romeo; Iveco Trucks; Daewoo Avia; CZ; GAZ Automotive (Russia); GE Capital; Domestic & General Insurance; and Hometune.
In 1997 Malcolm established Carlife s.r.o., an insurance backed warranty company which was based in the Czech Republic, and which was sold in 2000 to MAI Central Eastern Europe Ltd, the largest independent regional network of insurance and reinsurance brokers.
From 2001 Malcolm became a partner in ACS Partners covering CEE region and the Middle East and was retained by a number of companies with a pan-European, Middle Eastern presence, primarily covering the Automotive and Automotive finance industry. Malcolm also sits on the board of the investment bank BPA in Kiev and advises various regional banks and insurers on insurance with an emphasis on banc assurance development. He also represents the Lloyds broker Tobell and their insurance interests in the Middle East.
